2-5FEB2005 I stopped in Hawaii mainly to add my 49th of 50 states
visited. I stayed in a $20 a night 4 bed hostel. It was raining so I
spent lots of time watching TV and reading. My friend Doug (met him in
Seoul) showed up. It was good to see a familiar face.
It was sunny only one afternoon so I relaxed on Waikiki beach while watching
Doug and friends play cards. The only active thing I did was to climb
Diamond Head. Doug and I rode the bus and spent two warm hours trudging to
the top and back. Luckily it only rained on us right before we got on the
bus to go back to the hostel.
Waikiki, not surprisingly, is highly touristed. I was surprised by the
high number of Japanese tourists.
